The Welcome Space
The Welcome Space is the first space to greet you as you enter the Hub, to help you navigate there are several information points where you can find out all about the Hubs facilities and the activities taking place in it. It serves as a foyer and waiting space for the other facility spaces. You can hire the reception desk in the Welcome Space to greet everyone who enters the Hub. Hiring the desk is a great way to reach out to your target audience, whether you are a private enterprise, government organisation or charity.
There is also the opportunity to hire exclusive use of the Welcome Space when booking other facility spaces for a private function. The Welcome space is a great space to use as a reception area or cloakroom. The Welcome Space can accommodate up to 30 people standing and 20 people seated. Please email us for more information about private exclusive use of this facility.
The OuterSpace & Servery
The OuterSpace is a bright window walled room that can accommodate up to 35 people seated and 60 standing. It is an open plan area that can be semi partitioned with our oversized couches. The space is ideal for a variety of uses, it can be set up like a café seating area or restaurant or cleared for a drink’s reception or art exhibition. It can also be configured in a classroom like setting for craft clubs and group meetings or presentations.
The Servery can be hired with the OuterSpace or on its own. The Servery can be hired for use as a pop-up café, a servery area for buffet food or as a coffee station or bar (Licence dependent). The Servery has a hot water urn, a fridge, a glass dishwasher and handwash sink and is equipped with a selection of crockery, glasses, and cutlery.
The Circle
The Circle is a large high ceiling round space with a mobile stage that can be configured how you need it. Perfect for live music performances, cat walks and theatre productions. The circle can seat up to 130 people, or the space can be cleared for dance classes or discos. It is also possible to hire our 4×2 meter projection screen and projector, perfect for presentations, gaming parties and cinemas (Licences may be required).
The Workshop
The Workshop is equipped with carpentry and DIY tools that belong to the local community to run projects for the benefit of Dalkeith district communities. Some examples of the activities within the workshop are creating outdoor furniture for the community to use, repurposing, repairing and upcycling. Various organised community groups can hire the space with trained staff to oversee the use of the equipment.
The Clubroom
The Club Room is a bright room with windows to the rear of the building and to the inside of the building. It seats up to 6 people and is perfect for board games, meetings arts and crafts. It can also be used as a cloakroom or backstage space for larger events.
The Kitchen
The Kitchen is a flexible space that can be set up in a variety of ways. It can be hired for cookery classes, food production or caterers. It has two Turbo Fan steam combi ovens with extraction, a large double fridge, double sink, handwash sink, 6 moveable stainless-steel tables and Induction Hobs. Six cookery class kits are available for use by community clubs by request (deposit maybe required). The Kitchen has a digital Cooksafe, environmental health system where users of the kitchen can log all the necessary data safely in one place for the kitchen.
The Study
The Study is a small consultation room that seats up to four people. Perfect for interviews and 1:1 consultations. Hire of the Study allows you access to the Business Breakout area where there are tea and coffee-making facilities.
The Meeting Room
The Meeting Room is perfect for meetings of up to 6 people. Complete with all the tech you need for hybrid meetings. Hiring the Meeting Room also gives you access to the Business Breakout area where there are tea and coffee-making facilities.
Business Breakout
The Business Breakout area is a shared use facility for the users of the Study, Meeting room, Co-working space and the business incubators. It has a colour printer, a couple of comfy chairs, and a kitchenette for snacks, teas and coffees.
The Corner Shop Collective
The Corner Shop Collective opened on the 6th of April 2024. The shop showcases over 50 local artists, crafters and food producers all under one roof, all the shops profits are invested in the local community. The shop also supports local non-profit community groups and has various community initiatives and events throughout the year. Incubators
The Business Incubators offer small and start-up businesses an affordable place in the town centre Hub. Offered on short term leases these spaces allow businesses a real presence within the local community. With the current tenants running community classes offering opportunities for the community to learn new skills.
The Co-Working
The Co-working space is a shared office during the day, and in the evenings and weekends, it can be hired for private meetings and events. The large windows are right next to the entrance to the Hub, so they serve as a great exhibition space to grab people’s attention as they enter the Hub. Or the curtains can be closed for a more private space to hold your event. The Co-working space can seat up to 40 people.
